A little about me...
Hello! I thought you might want to see the face behind the blog, so here I am!
I'm Rachel and I'm the founder of Cosy Craft Club. I live on the outskirts of Bath with my husband and 5 year old twins.
I was born and grew up in the UK but in 2012 I moved to Hong Kong for 4 years with my husband and I had my children whilst I was out there. Hong Kong is a fascinating place to live, a real mix of eastern and western cultures. We're enjoying being back in the UK now, although the food isn't quite as good!
I was encouraged by my mum to make cards for family members from a young age, and I never stopped doing it! This was the start of my crafting journey, and I remember trying things like knitting, sewing and tapestry with her when I was younger.
These days the main crafts that I do are jewellery making, calligraphy, knitting and (as I already said) card making. I love to bake too - does that count as a craft?! Sewing is next on the list - Mum gave me her old sewing machine so I have no excuse! I'd really like to learn crochet too.
One of my favourite things to do is going to my local craft club (Articulate) and taking part in the workshops they run each session. I've tried so many things there, from needle felting to marbling, lino printing and sewing. Articulate is partly what inspired me to start the Cosy Craft Club. The community atmosphere with everyone helping each other, and the opportunity to try new crafts is something that I hope to recreate here.
Are you part of a craft club? Or were you taught crafts by family members when you were young? Please leave your crafting stories in the comments so I can get to know you too!
