Learn how to make cute felt crafts with these free DIY tutorials

Welcome to the Cosy Craft Club's felt craft month! We really want to encourage you to have a go at felt craft, and we'll be sharing the key things you need to know to get started. You can find all our felty posts in one place here.

There are so many great things that you can craft with felt! Our felt Christmas decorations kit is one way to get crafting, but what if you’ve got some felt lying at home and you want to have a go at something? I’ve found 8 free DIY felt craft tutorials that will inspire you to get going!

DIY fall felt wreath

Simple yet effective, this DIY fall felt wreath from Northstory + Co would look stunning in any home. I also love their felt DIY valentines cards, tea bag felt rosette tags, felt chain garland and felt gift card bags.

DIY felt plush llama

This DIY felt plush llama from The Craftaholic Witch would make such a lovely gift for any child. I love how bright and colourful it is! There are loads of fun craft tutorials on this website, my other favourites using felt are the DIY felt fruit coasters and DIY monster pencil toppers.

DIY felt sweet pea flowers

There are loads of great felt flower tutorials out there, but these DIY felt sweet pea flowers from Something Turquoise are so effective! The tutorial talks a lot about cutting the shapes using Cricut, but at the end there is a downloadable pattern so you can cut them out by hand if you don’t have one. There are also lots of other felt flower and greenery patterns, such as mini daisies, Iceland poppies, rananculus and eucalyptus - you could even mix them up and make a bouquet!

DIY Nessie loch ness monster

This large DIY felt loch ness monster is so cool! Obviously, you’ll need quite a lot of felt to make this one, but it is so fun - and the little girl it was made for absolutely loves it!

Fancy felt coffee sleeve

Practical and pretty, this fancy felt coffee sleeve pattern from Shiny Happy World is a lovely thing that you can make and use every day! Other beautiful felt tutorials include a heart garland, felt slogan hoop, fancy schmancy felt garland and embroidered felt bird (I fell in love with the embroidery on the last two).

Felt baby slippers

Aren’t these DIY felt baby slippers from Purl Soho the cutest?! So simple, but so sweet. They would make an adorable new baby gift. The Purl Soho website is packed full of beautiful makes, a few of our other favourite felt makes include modular felt coasters, hand sewn felt alphabet, felt flower pillows and gorgeous heirloom wool ornaments.

Felt heart wall hanging

I love the colours on this DIY felt heart wall hanging from Joann - and there’s not even any sewing involved! Other felt projects include a hoop with felt flowers, felt caroling birds, a fruit shape felt change purse and a felt laptop sleeve.

Felt houses

These felt houses from Bugs & Fishes are so sweet and would make wonderful playthings for a small person, or a beautiful new house gift for a loved one. Other great tutorials include a felt hot air balloon tape measure, cat pincushion, swan brooch or butterfly wreath.

These tutorials just go to highlight what a versatile medium felt is. I love how different they all are. Which one will you do first?
